an interesting form of bacteria.

syphilis is a form of spirochete. as is lyme disease.

i often wonder how much dementia has been caused by spirochete bacterial infection.

i do know this, when my mom, suffering from some form of dementia[alzheimer's] was treated with massive amounts of antibiotics[to combat pneumonia], she became much more sentient. as the pneumococcal infection subsided, and the admininstration of antibiotics diminished, her dementia returned.

how much do we really know about spirochetes and their devastation of the cerebral cortex?

very little i think.
